“Clicks but no inquiries” is the most common B2B Google Ads problem. Teams usually adjust bids or swap keywords first, but the real cause is often earlier: the ad promise does not match the landing page, or the tracking is simply wrong.
1. Wrong keyword intent
“Industrial pump” may come from students, repair technicians or competitors. “Industrial pump supplier for chemical plant” carries purchase intent. Start with the search-term report, remove broad and irrelevant queries, then scale.
2. Ad promise vs landing page
The ad says “quote in 24 hours”, but the page is a company introduction. The ad says “custom flanges”, but the page is a standard catalogue. Buyers leave when the mismatch appears.
3. No proof on the landing page
B2B buyers need certifications, cases, specifications, capacity and delivery proof. Adjectives about being “professional” do not earn an inquiry.
4. Forms that ask too much
Asking for company size, budget, procurement cycle and exact model on first contact kills conversion. Start with name, email and need; qualify later.
5. Poor mobile experience
Many industrial sites have overflowing tables, oversized images and tiny buttons on mobile. Overseas buyers do a lot of early research on phones.
6. Broken tracking
Form submissions do not fire events, GA4 and Google Ads disagree, and phone or WhatsApp clicks are not recorded. Without accurate data, optimisation is guesswork.
7. No sales feedback loop
A platform “conversion” is not a qualified inquiry. Sales judgement about lead quality must return to the ad review to know which keywords deserve a higher bid.
A simple order of checks
Verify tracking, review search terms, check ad-to-page consistency, and only then adjust bids and budget. Wrong order leads to worse results.
